NFL: Top positional need for all 32 teams
By Robby Sabo
New Orleans Saints
- 2014 Finish: 7-9, 2nd in NFC South
- Top Positional Need: Edge Rusher
If the award for shock of the offseason goes to Philly’s Chip Kelly, then a close runner-up would be the New Orleans Saints sending Jimmy Graham packing for Seattle.
It’s funny how in love football pundits become with the skilled guy over the little known grunt in the trenches.
Saints Edge Rushers:
- Junior Galette
- Parys Haralson
- Ronald Powell
- Kasim Edebali
The addition of center Max Unger is perfect for what Drew Brees loves to do. Because of his shorter stature, Brees loves to climb the pocket, thus making his interior lineman even more important in the pass protection game than the outside.
No question about it Graham is a huge loss. Nevertheless, that late first-round pick could become invaluable for the Sean Payton’s squad.
What New Orleans will really be in the market for in a little over a month will be a primetime edge rusher – making Rob Ryan the happiest Ryan boy in the league for a day.
Junior Galette picked up 10 sacks last season and is one-half of the equation. Another guy is necessary for Ryan to call a defense they way he likes. Ranking 25th in the NFL with 34 sacks a year ago is something that needs immediate attention.
