Carolina Panthers

  • 2014 Finish: 7-8-1, 1st in NFC South, Lost in Divisional
  • Top Positional Need: Left Tackle

Cam Newton and his Carolina Panthers came away with a home playoff win in January – something that would instantly consider the season a wild success.

That is, until, you glance at the regular season record and notice an ugly 7-8-1 mark.

Panthers Left Tackles:

  1. Nate Chandler
  2. Jonathan Martin
  3. Martin Wallace

Let’s think for a moment. Which position should Ron Rivera and Dave Gettleman target first?

Should it be at the receiver spot? They’re certainly ahead of the game with prototype Kelvin Benjamin as their stud moving forward, but lack serious talent after him.

Or how about cornerback? Josh Norman and Bene Benwikere hardly get anybody excited about Carolina’s secondary.

No, it needs to be the blindside, and appropriately so after free agent Michael Oher was signed to lockdown the right side for Newton.

At this point in his career Oher is a fringe starting tackle at best. Couple that with the fact that Nate Chandler and Jonathan Martin are the guys on paper battling for the blindside and it represents potential disaster.

Protecting the valuable asset known as Cam Newton needs to be priority number one.
