The Charlotte Hornets embraced April Fools’ Day by using a fake mannequin to scare fans entering their arena.

Wednesday was April Fools’ Day and the Charlotte Hornets took advantage of the day’s opportunity to have some fun at the expense of their fans.

The Hornets’ prank involved a man dressing up as their mascot and pretending to a mannequin, only to jump out and frighten some unsuspecting fans.

Take a look at video of the prank below:

That’s nice work from the Hornets here.

More importantly, the Hornets rewarded their fan base with an important win on Wednesday. Charlotte took care of the Detroit Pistons with a 24-point victory, pushing the Hornets’ record to 32-42.

The victory Wednesday keeps them firmly in the hunt for the No. 8 seed in the Eastern Conference, as they remain only 1.5 games behind the Miami Heat for the coveted seed.

While fans were surely scared by the April Fools’ Day prank, their team got the victory on Wednesday and that’s all that really matters.

The Hornets have another big game on Friday as they take on the Indiana Pacers at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. An Indiana victory would push the Pacers above the Hornets in the standings, making a postseason push for Charlotte even less likely.
