4. New York Mets

On paper right now, it’s the Nationals who enjoy being equipped with the top starting staff in the game, and it’s not even close.

As far as one through 10 is concerned, when it comes to overall pitching depth in one’s organization, it’s the New York Mets who blow everyone else out of the water.

Top Prospects:

  1. Noah Syndergaard, RHP (11)
  2. Steve Matz, LHP (33)
  3. Brandon Nimmo, OF (45)
  4. Dilson Herrera, 2B (46)
  5. Kevin Plawecki, C (63)
  6. Michael Conforto, OF (80)
  7. Amed Rosario, SS (98)
  8. Rafael Montero, RHP
  9. Marcos Molina, RHP
  10. Gavin Cecchini, SS

Not even a Zack Wheeler Tommy John situation can get this franchise down in the dumps.

Matt Harvey is proof. The guy came up through the organization very highly-touted. The two who’ll be following Harvey’s trail will be lumbering big-man Noah Syndergaard and lefty Steve Matz.

Syndergaard wasn’t overly impressive in 2014. Only nine wins and a 4.60 ERA created some cause for concern in Sandy Alderson’s world. Although, his 9.8 K per 9 rate is something to stay excited about.

Creating some movement on a very straight four-seamer is Syndergaard’s top priority as of now. Either that or up the control and find the brilliance of mixing in off-speed stuff.

What has to scare the rest of the NL is that the Mets everyday prospects are starting to come fast.

Brandon Nimmo, Dilson Herrera and Michael Conforto could turn out to be a dangerous trio at CitiField by the end of 2016 or start of 2017.
