Buddy Pope: Wax Statue Of Pope Seems To Reference ‘Dogma’
By Tony Tran
After unveiling the new wax statue of Pope Francis, some eye brows were raised as it seems to resemble the Buddy Christ statue from the Kevin Smith film ‘Dogma.’
Snootchies bootchies! A new wax statue has been unveiled of Pope Francis (because when you’re pope you get things like wax statues done of you). However, the statue is raising a few eyebrows for resembling a little more than the Supreme Pontiff.
See for yourself.
That’s right. Aside from bearing a resemblance to the Holy Father, the statue also looks like the tongue-in-cheek Buddy Christ from the cult comedy Dogma. With the friendly smile and the thumbs up, the similarities are uncanny. So much so, I wouldn’t be surprised if Smith decided to take issue with this and sue all of Rome.

Though if I were him, I would just ask the Pope to star in his next movie. Should be a marked improvement over Tusk and Cop Out.
Keeping with his foray into comedy horror films that just creep a lot of people out, Smith is slated to helm the film Yoga Hoser, a sequel of sorts to Tusk. The film is to star Johnny Depp of all people along with Smith’s young daughter, Harley Quinn Smith.
That’s right. He named his daughter after a sexy comic book character.
The film is a part of a trilogy of horror films the director has been working on, and it will conclude with the film Moose Jaws, described as Jaws but with a moose.
I won’t lie. I love Kevin Smith.
Moose Jaws will also star Tusk star Justin Long as well as the hollow shell of Haley Joel Osmand. It is slated to be filmed in February of 2016.
Meanwhile, the director will also be working on a sequel to Mallrats which was announced recently as well as the third addition to the Clerks films which he has finished writing.
