What can we expect from Peyton Manning next year?

I truly believe Peyton Manning will be just as good this coming season as he has been any year in a Denver Broncos uniform. A lot of people have been burying Peyton Manning way too early and making some expectations that he is done when he was simply injured for the last month or two.

Let’s dive in here and take a look at Manning’s stats from last season. On the season Manning finished with 395-597 for 4,727 yards, 39 TDs, 15 INTs. As you look at his stats across the board really there is no sign of a decline. I realize that he is 39 years old and there has to be a hill for him to fall off of soon, but I think he will have another solid season or two. Manning is such a student of the game that his physical skills have long since diminished and made him rely upon his football IQ for the last 10 years. If you really want the truth Peyton Manning has never been a player that relied on his physical prowess.

His arm strength has somewhat taken a hit over the years, but he has been a player that has learned to work around that as well. I really feel like Manning will have a season just like we have come to expect out of him next year. So as where Manning was a top five overall pick last season with people expecting his regression he will likely be had at somewhat of a bargain for next season. You will be running the risk of being the guy that owns Peyton Manning when he falls off of the age cliff or you can be the genius at the end of the season who collects the fantasy gold at the end of the year.

Year after year guys like to get mad at a player like Peyton Manning when they fall off during the fantasy playoffs. I have to admit that I have always had a mental list of players in all sports who have choked on me at one point or another in fantasy playoffs. I can still remember Zach Randolph back several years ago getting a DUI and missing some crucial games for me and costing me a fantasy basketball championship in a super competitive 20-team league.

At the end of the day for me I am still drafting Peyton Manning as a top three or four fantasy QB and expecting him to perform as one also. I would expect his numbers to be very similar to last season and see a 4,500+ yard season with roughly 40 TDs or so. If I had a win-now type of team in a dynasty league I would even go after Peyton Manning there as well. I would want a nice young backup who has a chance to be great in the future and maybe a Blake Bortles to back him up and would certainly be looking to trade for a cheap, young backup who could be the future of my dynasty league team. I am easily keeping him in a four or six keeper type of league and would probably be happy drafting him in the third round or so in standard re-draft leagues.
