After the project leaked to the public recently, Will Ferrell has gone on record to say that he and Kristen Wiig will not go forward with their Lifetime movie.

Some things are simply too good to be true. Such was the case with the Lifetime film to star funny people Will Farrell and Kristen Wiig, which recently leaked to the public much to everyone’s confused happiness.

After all, it was like hearing about something you didn’t know you absolutely needed.

Regardless, since the situation leaked the public on Wednesday, the two have retracted themselves from the project. The film, A Deadly Adoption, has officially been scrapped as of Ferrell’s statement on Thursday.

From Variety:

"“We are deeply disappointed that our planned top-secret project was made public,” said Ferrell in a statement. “Kristen and I have decided it is in the best interest for everyone to forgo the project entirely, and we thank Lifetime and all the people who were ready to help us make this film.”"

The film was to be a two-hour drama starring the two SNL alums, which told the story of an adoption that goes awry. The film was to be both serious but with enough awareness for the actors to give a wink and a nod to the audience as to the ridiculousness of the project.

I mean, it’s a Lifetime movie after all.

Though the film could yet still be alive, one thing for sure is that the two comedians will not be involved with the project.

Honestly, I’m a lot more dismayed than I ever thought I would be regarding a movie Lifetime original movie, which adds credence to the fact that I am becoming more and more like my mother every day. Shudder.

If you feel like torturing yourself with thoughts of what could have been, The Hollywood Reporter gave a pretty good run down of the film’s synopsis as well as the release time. Check it out below.

"Set for a likely early summer debut, Ferrell and Wiig star in the dramatic thriller as a successful couple who house and care for a pregnant woman (played by 90210 alum Jessica Lowndes) with the hopes of adopting her unborn child — then things quickly go awry. The movie is described as campy and fun and a contemporary wink at the genre that comes as Lifetime is poised to mark the 25th anniversary of its TV movie business."
