Does Biggie Shirt by Jahlil Okafor’s dad suggest he wants Knicks to draft him?
By Ernie Padaon
Jahlil Okafor’s dad rocked a Notorious BIG shirt with Jahlil’s face on it after the win. Could that mean that he wants his son to get drafted by New York?
Jahlil Okafor worked through some foul trouble last night in the Championship game against the Wisconsin Badgers, but he was able to make clutch plays to lead the team to win the National Championship on Monday night. The Duke Blue Devils topped the Badgers 68-63 at Lucas Oil Stadium to win that championship. Okafor finished the game with 10 points to help Duke.
After the game, Jahlil’s dad Chukwudi Okafor was seen wearing an awesome shirt that gave a little shout out to the late rapper Notorious B.I.G. Check out the amazing shirt:
That is his son’s face instead of Biggie’s on the shirt though. Jahliil is king for the day after winning that National Championship Here is the image that was mocked of Notorious to put Jahlil’s face on.
Now we all want to know where we can buy these shirts. When he gets picked up in the draft, will he become the “King of New York” just like Biggie had claimed? Will the New York Knicks win that NBA lottery and get the ability to take Okafor with the first pick in the draft to make him that “King of New York”?

On the lyrics of “Spit Your Game” from Notorious B.I.G., he finishes the track saying, “You just head the sounds of the King of New York. There’s only one crown.” Biggie mentioned that he wanted to be the King of New York multiple times in his lyrics.
It probably is a bit of a stretch, but any fans of Notorious and the rap game back in the day knows that he repped New York and the East coast all day. If daddy Okafor rocked a shrtt with his son in a bandanna that was tied in the front a la 2 Pac, then I would say that Poppa Okafor would be hoping that his son would go to the Los Angeles Lakers. He chose the Notorious reference though and the possibilities of playing in New York is there.
Teams will find out their draft location on May 19 when the draft lottery occurs. The Knicks have the best chance at getting the top selection at the moment with the worst record in the league. Jahlil would be a welcomed edition in New York to help turn that team around. We could see Jahlil Okafor as the new “King of New York” and that shirt would be an instant hit in that city.
