First Clip Of ‘Jurassic World’ Revealed, Joss Whedon Is Not Happy
By Tony Tran
The first clip to the much anticipated Jurassic World has been released, and with it came the ire of one Joss Whedon.
I am the type of guy who has the release date to Jurassic World marked on his calendar. The kind who, as a child, watched Jurassic Park once a day and devoured dinosaur fact books like a paleontology grad student.

Which is why it goes without saying that when the latest clip for Jurassic World dropped recently I was ecstatic. Finally, something besides the trailer to satiate me until the movie is released. However, after watching it I was left a bit dismayed.
Check it out and see if you can see why.

First off, the scene felt more than a little flat to me. As if I had already seen it before. This is mostly due to the fact that the handsome leading man bantering and flirting with the stiff but beautiful businesswoman thing has been done to all hell. Not only that, it clearly gives up the one piece of information that is pertinent to the film: the dinosaur they created will be evil and try to kill everyone.
We don’t really learn anything from the clip that we didn’t already get from the trailer spots that we have seen and for the most part the dialogue seems uninspired.
I was not alone in my feelings, as filmmaker Joss Whedon took to Twitter to voice his apprehensions at the trailer.
Speaking to the outdated jokes used throughout the clip, Whedon does have a point. The dynamic is a bit tasteless and the trope over done. If this is a lithmus test for how the rest of the film is going to play out then I think we all should be a little bit more apprehensive about this movie, and perhaps lower expectations a bit more.
Then again, I’m still going to be sitting here in my dinosaur PJ’s watching reruns of JP on AMC until Jurassic World hits theaters on June 12.
