Top 10 most disappointing things during the 2015 NBA season
7. The All Star Game
Don’t get me wrong. I love All Star games in any sport. Yes, even the pro bowl, but something about the 2015 All Star game really rubbed me the wrong way.
I don’t think it was Russell Westbrook going off for 41 points. The man simply could not miss. It was more of just the absolute care free attitude every player but Westbrook possessed. I understand players not wanting to go too hard and risk an injury, but when Steph Curry can out rebound Carmelo Anthony and Al Horford simply by putting in about half the effort he normally does it distracts from the competitiveness that is supposed to be present.
What happened to the fire the NBA All Star game used to possess? In 2003 it went to double overtime and Kevin Garnett busted his butt to ensure a win. Now, we have an absolute mockery of the game of basketball featuring alley oops, people walking back on defense, and Ariana Grande performances.
I would never in a million years say we should get rid of All Star weekend. It is wildly entertaining in its own way. I just wish it was a little more competitive.
