18. . vs. No. 2 Cleveland Cavaliers. Boston Celtics. 7. player

The Celtics gave up on Rajon Rondo earlier this season and tried to focus more heavily on rebuilding than anything. And then all of a sudden they found themselves as the no. 7 seed in the playoffs. Now I am not sure if this is because of how well the Celtics starting playing in the second half of the season, or just that the East is God-awful this year. I’ll just point out they’re under .500 record and let you decide that.

Nonetheless, the Celtics are in and Coach Brad Stevens gets to go back to the postseason and compete in Mar- or… April Madness since he was with Butler. Realistically, they probably don’t stand a chance again the Cleveland Cavaliers. LeBron always comes to play in the playoffs. And the inexperience of break out point guard Isaiah Thomas could prove to be the down fall of this young squad despite his success all year.

That isn’t to say this team of young aspiring NBA players can’t steal a game or two from the Cavs. All it’s going to take is Kevin Love to not shoot well, Isiah Thomas outplay Kyrie Irving and Evan Turner contain LeBron. Can all of these things happen on the same night? Of course. Can they happen consistently over a seven game series? Well… let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

The Celtics are most likely just happy to be in the playoffs. They did go 24-12 to finish the season, a record that compares to the likes of the Spurs, Warriors, and Cavaliers themselves. Their young coach has inspired this inexperienced and young things this regular season. Don’t let a first round loss to Cleveland discourage you.
