3 reasons why Alex Rodriguez shouldn’t get his home run milestone bonus
The old saying of once a cheater, always a cheater is the epitome of Alex Rodriguez’s Major League Baseball career.
He tried to play the sympathy card back in 2009, when he admitted to using performance-enhancing drugs amidst rumors regarding his rampant steroid use.
Rodriguez pleaded that it was all a part of his past. He said that he made a huge mistake while under immense pressure to perform up to the level of the record-breaking contract he signed with the Texas Rangers in the early 2000’s. He adamantly stated that he never used PED’s while he was with the Yankees, and that his use was limited his time with the Rangers.
And what happened?
He got busted again, this time at the center of the biggest scandal to hit the baseball world since Barry Bonds, Victor Conte and the notorious BALCO trial. As mentioned earlier, the result was the longest PED-related suspension in league history, and the first major scandal since the league began its crusade against PED’s in the early 2000’s.
The only thing Alex Rodriguez deserves in the MLB record books is a giant asterisk next to his name. It is embarrassing enough that he is undoubtedly going to pass up a player in Mays that did not use steroids to pad his stats, the last thing he needs is a big bonus to reward his PED-driven accomplishments.
