Two new posters for the upcoming second season of True Detective have been released. The two posters, which are actually GIFs, each depict a different viewpoint of the California highway system.
The first poster is a scene underneath a highway. There is a fire burning brightly below the highway while a dark and ominous red sky stretches above. The second poster is a top-down view of highways stretching across each other with nothing but a dark abyss beneath them. Black and white cars move across the barren highways toward a destination unknown.
Both posters display the words “We get the world we deserve.” Will this quote be a main theme of season two similar to Rusty’s season one quote, “time is a flat circle,” True Detective is certainly not afraid to go for large themes involving eternity, life, death, and the world at large, so it is certainly a possibility fans will see this quote appear in season two.
These posters are very eerie. They are the kind of posters to be expected from a show that tackled such dark topics in its first season such as murder, violence, time, evil, and the occult. These new posters are certainly pointing toward a return to form for season 2 of the hit show. Hopefully the second season lives up to the hype when it premiers on HBO June 21st.
