Derrick Rose shows flashes of old self with drive, scoop and score
Chicago Bulls oft-injured point guard Derrick Rose showed some flashes of his old self with a nifty drive, scoop and score at the rim.
Watching Derrick Rose over the past few seasons has been rough on fans and teammates, alike. Everyone has been waiting for the season in which he is fully healthy and ready to prove doubters wrong, to prove that he is, in fact, still one of the best players in the NBA.
The Chicago Bulls‘ guard has been all over the place when it comes to injuries as it seems like every other day, a new one occurs, sidelining him for weeks upon weeks.
Rose’s knees are those of an 80-year-old nursing home resident, but he still finds a way to make it work as he had the Bulls up 3-0 in their first-round series against the Milwaukee Bucks — that was, until a buzzer-beater by Jerryd Bayless gave the Bucks their first win.
During the series against the Bucks, Rose has had himself quite the resurgence. The 26-year-old point guard has averaged 21.5 points, 7.5 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game during the round one matchup.
He’s starting to look like the Derrick Rose of old and this play may have furthered that belief:
Rose split the defenders on his way to the bucket for an easy layup. This isn’t something we have seen from the former MVP as he’s usually on the bench in street clothes.
