5. Josh Hamilton said Dallas-Fort Worth wasn’t a baseball town after leaving

Oh boy, well this is awkward, isn’t it?

During his first spring training with the Angels in 2013, Hamilton said that Texas had some true baseball fans, but the city of Dallas-Fort Worth wasn’t a true baseball town.

Now that he is returning, how receptive of him are fans going to be, especially considering that he isn’t coming back as a top player at the top of his game.

Not to mention that he dropped a routine fly ball in the last game of 2012 in a tie game, which saw the Rangers lose the division title to the Oakland Athletics. Combine that with the comments he made after he left, and the Rangers fans probably still aren’t too over the things that he did on the way out.

While he didn’t go too far over the line with his words, they aren’t exactly words of encouragement, and if the organization wants fans to embrace a player at a time when he needs it more than ever, it’s going to add to his uphill climb to becoming a productive player and even more a productive person again.

Still, time heals all wounds and Hamilton did some pretty amazing things in his time with the Rangers organization and fans will probably recognize that in his return.

However, with his comments and the state of physical being, is it too late to repair a relationship in Texas?
