Tennessee Titans

Let’s get those most likely of situations out of the way first. The Tennessee Titans have the No. 2 pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, but they aren’t married to idea of picking that spot if the right deal presents itself. Oh, hello there, San Diego.

As mentioned in the previous slide, the San Diego Chargers have fallen in love with quarterback prospect Marcus Mariota, and are looking for possible ways to get him. So why not go after the second overall pick when the first overall pick is definitely not available?

The Tennessee Titans dealt with the three-headed nuclear mutation of Jake Locker, Zach Mettenberger, and Charlie Whitehurst last season, which resulted in 2 wins. Sure, getting Mariota will give the Titans a nice product to develop, but how soon will he be able to make an impact on a two-win team?

Philip Rivers gives the Titans a proven quarterback who can make his receivers better. Just ask Antonio Gates, Malcom Floyd, and Keenan Allen how positive having Rivers under center is. The longevity of the Floyd and Gates, who were both undrafted prospects, speaks volumes for how Rivers can work with talent that is overlooked by so many teams.

In exchange, the Chargers get Mariotta and make the transition to a quarterback of the future with a solid core around him to help him develop and bring the Chargers into a new era. With the Chargers unable to win ten games or more in the last five years, a fresh face may be what they need to jump start the franchise.
