2016 NFL Mock Draft
By Will Osgood
17. Cleveland Browns–Joey Bosa, DE, Ohio State
Things are looking up for the Cleveland Browns, after getting their quarterback, a guy who can legitimately turn that franchise around. He still needs help though. Joey Bosa can help make that defense great in year one. He’d be a solid, if not sexy pick.
And the Ohio State connection doesn’t hurt in the City of Cleveland.
18. Cincinnati Bengals–Derrick Henry, RB, Alabama
The Cincinnati Bengals just seem like the odd team out of the playoffs next season, despite their best efforts. Derrick Henry falls here for a couple reasons–first, he is too reminiscent of recent Alabama running backs to enter the NFL, and this upcoming running back class looks to be as good, if not better than the one we just saw drafted.
Henry is the perfect complement to Giovanni Bernard and Jeremy Hill. With a roster full of depth, the Bengals have no obvious needs so they look to create a legitimately star-studded backfield to take some of the pressure off Andy Dalton.
19. Jacksonville Jaguars–Spencer Drango, OT, Baylor
Yes, the Jacksonville Jaguars will narrowly miss the playoffs, and actually finish ahead of the Houston Texans in the AFC South. But they’ll still need help protecting Blake Bortles and opening holes for their young stud running back.
Drango, at 6’5″, 315 lbs. is more than able to do both efficiently.
20. Chicago Bears–Jeremy Cash, S, Duke
It’s hard to imagine John Fox missing the playoffs, but in the ultra-competitive NFC, getting them this close is rather the impressive coaching job. The Bears badly need help in the secondary, and Jeremy Cash is just the guy to provide it.
The Bears may have liked to go running back, but with the run on them in the first-round, elect to wait and allow the depth of the class to aide them in finding their Matt Forte complement and eventual replacement.
