Waiting Another Year for a Deep Kevin Love Playoff Run

By Derek James (@DerekJamesNBA) — Hardwood  Paroxysm

Many Minnesota fans will likely disagree with this, but Kevin Love having his shoulder separated by Kelly Olynyk is yet another disappointing turn in his career.

Love spent the first six years of his career dying to make the playoffs. The lack of a postseason success was a major source of frustration for Love in Minnesota and lost faith in the Timberwolves’ ability to get him there.

Things in Cleveland were supposed to be different. Love was going to be next to LeBron James and Kyrie Irving and form the next great trio in the NBA. The trio had their growing pains, but slowly figured things out and then seemed to be coming into their own by the time they met Boston in the first round.

Then Love went down and will spend the next 4-6 months rehabbing from shoulder surgery. Love’s injury was an unfortunate turn for a player who had finally reached his goal after years of trying and failing to reach the postseason. He finally got a taste, but playing a few games in the first round was neither what anyone had been hoping for Love.

Maybe next season will be different. If he returns to Cleveland, Love stands a good chance of removing the years of frustration since the Cavaliers figure to be a contender a year from now. I guess we’ve all waited six years, so what’s another year?

*sigh*
