The first look at Quentin Tarantino’s new project The Hateful Eight

It has been a already a scarred process for Tarantino’s new movie The Hateful Eight. In  January 2014 the script was leaked, and at that point all seemed done for. Tarantino was going to salvage the situation by releasing the script solely as a book. Instead he decided to go forth with the project and began filming earlier this year. Now with a full cast including Samuel Jackson, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Kurt Russell.

The premise of the movie is reported to be something similar to Reservoir Dogs were majority of the movie takes place in a few number of locations. Ultimately the plot is boiling down to a bunch of outlaws, and men of questionable moral intent spending a night in a room together with guns, stuck inside an inn from a blizzard.

Entertainment Weekly released their latest cover which featured the first look of characters in costume.

These particular costumes look more cold weather friendly and with some flairs of brighter colors. The mixing of textures, patterns, and colors gives us the feel of how Tarantino has represented history with his vibrant flair, and no apologies liberty. The movie is set to take place a few years after the civil war, and in a mountain pass in Colorado.

Their is obvious elements of Django Unchained to be pointed at in this movie, and as previously stated it sort of has a reservoir dogs sort of plot where there isn’t a ‘good guy.’ Unlike Reservoir Dog’s it doesn’t appear to be an “us-vs-them” story as much as “us-vs-us.” I imagine a sort of Clue, set in the west, with the normal Tarantino visceral edge all his films carry.

As to whether this is Tarantino’s last film or not seems to be a mystery, although talks lead us to believe it to be more true than not. It seems Tarantino is fairly level headed on the issue saying that he doesn’t want to go on too long, but if he see’s the possibility to create a good movie, he isn’t going to turn it down just because he said he wouldn’t.

A few characters slated to be in this movie not pictured above will also be Channing Tatum, Michael Madsen, and Tim Roth.

We will be interested to see how Tarantino puts together this no-good-guys western when it is released in the fall this year.
