The red band trailer for the new National Lampoon’s Vacation film has dropped (video)

The Griswold’s are back, and this time they’re headed back to Wally World in the latest red band trailer for National Lampoon’s Vacation.
Every family knows a moment when they strayed into Griswold territory. When you’re on a family trip or just celebrating Christmas together and things get a little bit wackier than usual.

And as if the Vacation films didn’t already provide enough dysfunctional examples to relate with, they’re coming out with a new Vacation movie hitting theaters this summer. This time though, it’s Rusty’s turn to helm the old family station wagon.

If the trailer is any indication, the film is going to be chocked full of the classic Griswold escapades we know and love as well as a few new raunchier humor to appeal to a raunchier modern crowd. It was also nice to see how self-aware the film is, with Ed Helms saying that this vacation will be able to “stand on its own.” Well played, Helms. Well played.
That said, there does seem to be a few points where they stray for some cheap laughs (see Chris Hemsworth enormous … remote). Though they do seem to breathe some new life into some old gags (see the flirty lady in the red sports car get totaled).
For now, we’ll have to wait until July 28th when the film premieres to reserve judgement.
