3 Starting Pitcher Sleepers

1. Jimmy Nelson-Milwaukee Brewers: Nelson started the season on fire but hit a snag two starts ago taking a shelling form the Reds in Cincinnati.  He bounced back in his last outing against the Cubs allowing three runs in 6.2 innings on seven hits and two walks while striking out six.  Nelson didn’t earn a decision for that outing staying at 1-2 for the season.  He’ll take on Chicago again tonight, but this time at home in Milwaukee where he has allowed juts one run on five hits in 15 innings this season. Since he’s at home and in a good matchup, he’s the sleeper I like the most among tonight’s fantasy baseball starting pitchers

2. Miguel Gonzalez-Baltimore Orioles: Gonzalez and the Orioles are in a tough matchup in the Bronx, but he has been rising to the occasion this season and makes an intriguing sleeper play tonight. Gonzalez is still available in over half of ESPN season-long leagues making him a nice streaming option as well.  He faced the Yankees earlier this season and went seven strong innings striking out ten and allowing just one run on four hits.  He is also coming off a nice outing in Tampa where he held the Rays to just four hits in 7.2 scoreless innings to improve to 3-1 on the season. The matchup he’s in makes him a little risky, but he has been effective in most of his five starts so far this season.

3. Jarred Cosart-Miami Marlins: Cosart allowed three runs in just five innings in his start last Sunday, and he’ll look to bounce back as he takes on an injury-depleted Giants lineup tonight in San Francisco.  Prior to his last start, Cosart had turned in two nice outings allowing just one run in 14 innings to the Phillies and Mets.  He typically doesn’t pile up strikeouts, but he will be interesting to watch tonight as he duels Tim Lincecum.  I like Cosart as a sleeper option tonight if you need to save money in daily leagues or are looking for a streamer in season-long leagues.
