U2 played the New York subway in disguise
U2 teamed up with Jimmy Fallon to perform a concert in the New York City subway in disguise.
Perhaps inspired by Jimmy Fallon’s nine years in disguise as Ted Mosby from How I Met Your Mother (which didn’t happen, but it really looks like it), U2 went on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to play a New York subway station in disguise.

Attempting to obscure 30-plus years of fame, Bono, The Edge, the other guy, and the other other guy showed up at the 42nd Street subway station clad in ridiculous clothing and sunglasses so as not to be recognized (though really, would you recognize U2’s bassist and drummer either way?). Bono wore a blue cowboy hat, because even when he’s in disguise, he still has to be Bono.
Disguises set, the band set up shop in the station with guitars and bucket drums, giving them the opportunity to play such hits as “Where the Street Does Have a Name,” and “(This Subway Will Leave) With or Without You.” Or maybe it was just an attempt to prove that when U2 decides to give away free music, it’s not always a disaster.
Silence rang out in the New York sky-yyy as the band played “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For,” so Fallon soon revealed the band’s true identities and they played a triumphant version of “Desire.”
