8. player. 92.
Tom Barrasso wasted little time making an impact in the NHL when he became the first goalie to come straight from high school to the NHL after he was the No. 5 pick in the 1983 draft and became the league’s youngest Vezina winner when he won as an 18-year-old rookie in 1983-1984.

Barrasso also won the Calder Trophy, becoming the third player to win both the Vezina and Calder in the same year and he finished ninth in the Hart. He followed up his rookie campaign with a league-leading five shutouts and 2.66 GAA but finished second in the Vezina.

He would be traded from the Buffalo Sabres in his fifth season to the Pittsburgh Penguins for Doug Bodger and Darrin Shannon and he won back-to-back Stanley Cups in 1991 and 1992 as the backstop for the Mario Lemieux-led Pens. He played 12 seasons in Pittsburgh and was a Vezina finalist two times and became the first American goalie to reach 300 wins in a Penguins uniform.

Barrasso’s 369 career wins rank second and his 38 shutouts are the third most among American goalies.
. Goalie. Pittsburgh Penguins. Tom Barrasso
