Andrew McCutchen has odd new ritual (Video)
Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen has a weird new ritual after each at-bat.
Andrew McCutchen has been all about change this year. It all started when he got rid of his famous dreadlocks and shaved his head. Now he has a weird ritual after at-bats.
After lining out against the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday, McCutchen went to the dugout and laid down on his back.
As he laid there, he began doing strange hand signals as everyone stood and watched him.
Baseball has always been a game about rituals, and the former MVP’s newest ritual is the latest addition to weird rituals.
Some players don’t step on the foul line, others chew certain pieces of bubblegum and others eat certain meals before games.
McCutchen lays on his back and makes hand signals that a third base coach would make to a runner on first. Hey whatever it takes to keep him producing at a superstar level so that he can continually put on a show for the fans is worth it.
Now if he begins speaking in tongues and snakes slither in the dugout, then there might be some issues.
Until then, keep on doing your thing McCutchen.
