3. Ryan Braun-OF-Milwaukee Brewers: Although the Brewers and White Sox don’t normally meet very often, Braun has a fairly long and successful track record against tonight’s starter Jeff Samardzija due to his time with the Cubs.  Braun is 9-18 (.500) against Samardzija with one double three home run and seven RBI in their previous meetings.

2. Dustin Pedroia-2B-Boston Red Sox: Much of Pedroia’s history against Scott Kazmir comes from several years ago when Kaz was with the Rays, but his numbers are too good to ignore as the Sox head west tonight.  Against Kazmir, Pedroia is 19-38 (.500) in his career with eight of those hits going for extra bases with five doubles, a triple and a pair of home runs.

1. Evan Longoria-3B-Tampa Bay Rays: The top batter vs pitcher matchup to target for today is definitely Longoria vs Sabathia given the high volume of at-bats the Rays’ 3B has against CC and the incredible success he has had.  In his career, Longoria is 24-58 (.414) with eight doubles, six home runs, and 14 RBI.  Sabathia has also issued him 13 free passes since most of the time Longoria at 1B is actually the best case scenario for the veteran Yankee. Look for a big night for Longoria tonight in Tampa
