San Francisco Giants. 16. team. 40. The Giants are starting to finally make some strides, with an 8-3 record thus far in May. However, this is a team that ranks 29th in both runs scored and home runs on the season, so offense is going to continue to be a struggle. That said, a 9-3 record in 1-run games will certainly push aside those concerns a bit.. . Previous: +3rd

17. team. 82. The Marlins steadfastly refused to talk about moving closer Steve Cishek in a trade this past winter, and now the team may be regretting that decision. Cishek is just 3-for-7 in save opportunities this season and has abandoned his low-90’s fastball in favor of his sinker which is also two MPH below where it sat last season. That has led the Marlins looking for a new closer, and possibly out a trade piece.. . Previous: +3rd. Miami Marlins

. Previous: +3rd. Los Angeles Angels. 18. team. 102. The Angels went 5-2 over the last week, thanks in part to Jered Weaver dialing back the clock and delivering a great start. If he can figure out how to get by with lesser stuff, and the Angels can somehow figure out how to fix Matt Shoemaker, this rotation could find its footing again, and the Angels could get back into the picture in the AL West.

19. team. 11. Welcome back Manny Machado! Since being moved to the lead-off spot, the O’s third baseman is hitting a solid .333/.405/.606. Adam Jones must have gotten sick of carrying the offensive load and got Machado in line. Now if he can work out his magic on Chris Davis and Steve Pearce, Baltimore could be dangerous again.. . team. 8. The Dbacks have things figured out at the top of their line-up, with the pair of Ender Inciarte and A.J. Pollock representing the second best 1-2 punch in baseball (NYY – Ellsbury/Gardner). The pair is hitting .303 with 10 stolen bases and 42 runs scored. That’s been huge for Arizona, which badly needed someone to set the table ahead of Paul Goldschmidt.. . Previous: +4th.
