New York Jets at New England Patriots, Week 7

The New York Jets and the New England Patriots are always a great game to watch. You know Rex Ryan is going to shoot his mouth off and…. Wait, Ryan isn’t there anymore.

Which is what makes this matchup very interesting. How will new head coach Todd Bowles approach the team that has dominated the AFC East for the last decade? How will he go about attacking quarterback Tom Brady and contain (or try to) Rob Gronkowski?

Getting Darrelle Revis back was a pretty significant step, as well as adding Buster Skrine. The Jets will also have to hope that the Quinton Coples-outside linebacker experiment  starts to bear fruit, as the team has needed consistent outside pass rush for a long time.

Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see how the Patriots approach this new Jets team.  Brady has the same weapons to throw to as he did last season, but Shane Vereen and Stevan Ridley are gone. While the ground attack has never been the key to the Patriots beating the Jets, Vereen had two receiving touchdowns in the first meeting between these two teams last year.

His 71 yards on five catches were a real problem for the Jets and his touchdowns put New York in the hole early. They were never able to recover.

Still, Brady always finds new weapons or new ways to use old ones.

It will be interesting to see what the approach will be this year from both teams as Rex Ryan looks on from Buffalo.
