Denver Broncos at Indianapolis Colts, Week 9

Another 2014 NFL playoff matchup, the Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos have a lot more than the last meeting to make this game interesting.

Of course, you have Peyton Manning returning home again for what will be one of the last time (if not the last time) to face the guy who replaced him. Neither of them have won a Super Bowl yet so, even if Jim Isray wants to talk about how he made the move to Luck for the Super Bowls in the future, that future hasn’t arrived.

As we talked about before when we hit on the Patriots-Colts game, Indianapolis has to come up with a way to stop a very good passing offense with a defense they didn’t upgrade. The extra problem for the Colts though, is that they also face a very good defense. The Broncos secondary and the pass rush should both be top notch again this season and could give the Colts some fits.

Of course, it didn’t do much for the Broncos last season when they met in the playoffs and the Colts beat Denver 24-13 in Denver. Yes, the Broncos generated two interceptions, while a lackluster second half for the offense helped Denver lose. The defense coughed up two touchdowns in the second quarter though, and that was really the difference in the game.

We know we’ll get a good game from these teams, especially in the regular season. We also know that there are only a few more Luck vs Manning games left before Peyton retires.

Each one of them is worth keeping an eye on to see two great quarterbacks duke it out.
