Oh Oakland … Welcome back to mediocrity

While most expected the Oakland Athletics to fall back a little bit after the team got rid of almost every key player during the offseason, nobody expected this kind of free fall.

The 2015 Oakland A’s are 13-23, dead last in the AL West and 10 games behind first in the division.  They’ve been atrocious at home, going just 5-11 at O.Co Coliseum and have had five games decided by nine or more runs, going 2-3 in those games.  Their two wins were by scores of 10-0 and 12-0, while their three losses by nine or more runs were by scores of 10-1, 13-0 and 14-1.

While both Sonny Gray and Scott Kazmir have led the way on the mound, the rest of the A’s starters have struggled.  Of the six qualifying starting pitchers, Oakland has four with losing record, three with plus-4.00 ERA’s, the worse coming off of Kendall Graveman’s 1-2 record and 8.27 ERA with a 2.02 WHIP.
