Mike Napoli has been on a tear since requesting that a young Red Sox fan sign his bat.

These dern Boston teams and their competitive advantages. Dead spots on the old floor of the Garden, Patriots fiddling with balls, and now magical signatures from nine-year-old Red Sox fans. It just ain’t fair, I tell ya.

As soon as that good luck charm inked his bat, Napoli lit up like Roy Hobbs wielding Wonderboy. Eleven at-bats, four home runs, six RBI – yeah, there’s some kind of juju going on here.

According to Naopli, that’s kind of his thing. People always want him to sign memorabilia, so he likes to flip the script. And then, of course, you catch somebody like Ethan with his magic spells and boom! it’s off to the races. Clever guy, Mike Napoli. Clever guy.

"“Sometimes there’s kids in the dugout (pregame) and I go up and have them sign my bat,” he said. “It’s kind of crazy, the first home run I hit the other day I hit right where he signed it. That was pretty cool.”…“Everybody’s always asking me for my autograph, I think it’s pretty cool to say, `Can I get your autograph?” Napoli said. “They love that and they write their name on the bat.”"

Ethan, if you’re reading this, I hear that Atlanta is lovely this time of year, and there are plenty of bats around Turner Field in need of a new paint scheme. Any plans to head down south for the summer? (asking for a friend)
