Hail to the king, baby. The new promo trailer for the “Ash vs Evil Dead” series has dropped and it is … groovy.

The much anticipated Ash vs Evil Dead television series is slated to drop this fall. Though that may seem a ways away still, you might want to run out to your garage and oil up your chainsaw after checking out the blood splattering promo trailer.

Check it out below!

Groovy.

Though the trailer admittedly lacks the kind of Deadite decapitating goodness you might come to expect from Ash, it does feature the fine voiceover work of the man, the myth, the legend Bruce Campbell as he lets out a grizzled sounding “Groovy.”

Despite the fact that the last film in the series was released over twenty years ago, the critically acclaimed, ever beloved, cult classic Evil Dead franchise has spawned video games, comic books, and landed Bruce Campbell enough roles in various B-Movies to keep a roof over his head. It even spawned a pretty good remake in 2013.

It also gave Sam Raimi a career in making films with the wackiest action sequences you have ever seen in your entire life (see the Doc Ock surgery scene in Spiderman 2). Raimi himself will be at the helm for the first episode of the series, with his brother Ivan and Tom Spezialy writing the episode.

So you know it’s going to be awesome.

A full synopsis of the series is provided below, courtesy of ScreenCrush.

"Campbell will be reprising his role as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons –personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its “Evil” grip. The cast is led by Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead, “Burn Notice”) in the role of Ash Williams, Lucy Lawless (“Salem” “Spartacus”) as Ruby a mysterious figure who believes Ash is the cause of the Evil outbreaks, Ray Santiago (“Touch,” Meet the Fockers) as Pablo Simon Bolivar, an idealistic immigrant who becomes Ash’s loyal sidekick, Dana DeLorenzo (A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas) as Kelly Maxwell, a moody wild child trying to outrun her past and Jill Marie Jones (“Sleepy Hallow”) as Amanda Fisher, a disgraced Michigan State Trooper set to find our anti-hero Ash and prove his responsibility in the grisly murder of her partner."

You read that right. Lucy “Xena: Warrior Princess” Lawless will be in the show. From that description alone, I’m already hooked.

Until then, there’s rumor that a panel for the show will be present at Comic-Con 2015. And that’s just enough to make someone want to toss on their S-Mart uniform, load up their double barrel Remington and take out some Deadites!
