Sleeper Options

player. 8. De La Rosa has struck out 55 batters in 59 innings this season and has been picking it up lately  with a 2-1 record in five starts this month and a 3.97 ERA.  He’s a solid source of K’s although he usually gives up some hits and runs.. Arizona Diamondbacks. @ Brewers. Rubby De La Rosa. 16

Chad Bettis. 15. player. 108. Bettis was knocked around last year coming out of the bullpen for the Rockies, but he’s been a solid part of their rotation since joining the club mid-May. His last start was his best at the Major League level as he held the Giants to just two runs on six hits in 8.1 innings to get his first win of the season.  He’ll look to build on that performance as he faces the Phillies tonight.  He started against Philadelphia ten days ago allowing three runs on eight hits in six innings and getting a no-decision.. Colorado Rockies. @ Phillies

DeSclafani looked good in his last start allowing one run on three hits to the Indians but getting out dueled by AL Cy Young winner Corey Kluber. It was a nice outing for him after getting crushed by San Francisco in his previous outing.  On the season, he sports a 3.46 ERA and has held opposing hitters to a .216 average. I think he’s in a good spot to pick up a win tonight as he takes on the struggling Stephen Strasburg.. Cincinnati Reds. vs Nationals. Anthony DeSclafani. 14. player. 61

13. player. 102. Santiago has turned in four straight quality starts  to get his ERA to 2.47 on the season. He took a hard-luck loss his last time out in Boston and threw a season-high 124 pitches in 6.2 innings. The Tigers haven’t been crushing the ball on their West Coast trip, so Santiago is a solid sleeper option for tonight.. Los Angeles Angels. vs Tigers. Hector Santiago

82. Haren was knocked around in LA as he took on his former team the Dodgers earlier this month, but other than that has turned in quality starts in each of his last five outings.  As he takes on the struggling Mets, he should turning another good outing tonight although his strikeout rate isn’t quite enough to earn him a spot at the next level yet.. Miami Marlins. @ Mets. Dan Haren. 12. player

Kansas City Royals. @ Cubs. Edinson Volquez. 11. player. 7. Volquez takes on the Cubs at Wrigley field this afternoon.  He has been better at home than on the road this season, but his 2.77 ERA shows he has been solid this season. Last season, Volquez pitched three games against the Cubs going 2-0 with an impressive 0.56 ERA allowing a single earned run in 16 innings.  Given his history and performance this season, he’s a solid play this afternoon especially since he is 2-1 with a 1.90 ERA in four day games this year.

135. . McCullers has been impressive in his first two career starts for the Astros.  He has allowed just three runs on nine hits in 10.2 innings in his first two outings while picking up 11 strikeouts.  As he and the Astros welcome in the White Sox, McCullers is one of the better pickups for a streaming option or for a more long-term investment.. Houston Astros. vs White Sox. Lance McCullers. 10. player
