2015 NBA Finals: Guide for beginners
By Stu White
… Riley Curry, the cutest kid in professional sports.
Look, if you don’t plan on watching every second of every game in these Finals, or if you plan on only tuning in during fourth quarters, at least set aside time to watch Riley Curry, Stephen Curry’s two-year-old daughter, turn postgame press conferences into her personal playground. She’s hilarious, spunky, adorable, and infinitely meme-able, and best of all she drives self-serious sports journalists up the wall (because those people seem to lack anything resembling a sense of fun).
As a lifelong sports fan who will more than likely die knowing more about shooting percentages than the periodic table of elements — I make good life choices, clearly — even I get exhausted with the ceaseless seriousness that surrounds sports, and Riley Curry’s podium performances are a much-needed injection of levity into a world that could do with a little more laughter and a little less self-important fart-sniffing. So if you find yourself unenthused by the action on the court, or uninterested in the competing #narratives being brayed about on ESPN every night, at least know that you can tune in after every game and watch the world’s sweetest toddler turn what is normally a dull and humorless proceeding into something fun.
So there you have it: A beginner’s guide to the 2015 NBA Finals. If this guide alone hasn’t slaked your thirst for knowledge, or if you want to dive deeper when it comes to learning about stats, matchups, or certain players, well, we here at FanSided pretty much have you covered, so stick around, do some reading, and enjoy the games!
