Marcus Mariota tops NFL jersey sales in May, Tom Brady third
By Jack Crosby
Marcus Mariota had some pretty nice jersey sales for the month of May, despite not hitting the field yet
The numbers are in as far as NFL jersey sales in the month of May go, and there is a rookie leading the way. When all was said and done, it was Tennessee Titans quarterback, and the No. 2 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, Marcus Mariota who led the way in sales. Right behind him was the No. 1 overall pick, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston.
Of course, what maybe stands out the most from the top three rankings, though, is the fact that Tom Brady comes in at No. 3 on the list. Brady was the NFL player that dominated the news in the month of May, and not exactly for the right reasons. The Super Bowl winner was suspended the first four games of the upcoming season, and was believed to become the most hated man in the NFL.
But, these jersey sales go to show that for as much hate as Brady might be getting, he’d getting just as much love from his supporters as well. Whether you love him or hate him, there’s really no denying that Brady has a lot of people that have his back out there, and his ranking here shows it.
Still, though, it’s a pretty amazing feat for Mariota to be No. 1 despite not having played an NFL game yet. The hopes are high in Tennessee for the reigning Heisman winner to come in and help turn this franchise around immediately, which you can see by the number of jerseys that he’s sold after just his first month as an NFL player.
Here’s a look at the complete Top 25 list of jersey sales for the month of May:
