St Louis Rams

It’s bad enough that the St. Louis Rams have been dragging the bottom of the NFC and NFC west for years. Despite acquiring a quarterback who doesn’t spend every season in the trainer’s room in Nick Foles, they have very little ability to protect him or weapons for him to throw to. This team hasn’t been even over .500 since 2004, stretching a losing record over the last decade with just one season (2006) at .500.

Worse than all that is the fact that the franchise is very likely going to move to Los Angeles and if they don’t it will be because the city decided to pony up and pay into a new, very expensive stadium.

Not only have the Rams not been good for the last decade, there have been times they have been downright bad. But do fans deserve to have their team ripped from their city?

While the Rams did have some success back in the late 90’s and early 00’s, they’ve been brutal for too long. Fans have been supporting their team but not getting much, if any, return. So at what point does the franchise start helping their fans out with some shrewd moves and success?

Foles was a good start and drafting running back Todd Gurley could be another successful move. The defense needs more work, but the pieces are mostly there. The offensive line should be better this year, and will benefit from Foles’ quick release, which is quicker than Sam Bradford’s (or we think it is – Bradford was never on the field enough to be sure).

In the end, one hopes that turnaround is in the offing but that the fans in St. Louis get a chance to see it before the team moves west, back to where it originated.
