The Los Angeles Clippers are ready for a new chapter under Steve Ballmer, including a new logo.

The Los Angeles Clippers toiled in the cellar of the NBA for years under the hand of Donald Sterling as their owner. With Sterling no longer in control of the team, though, the organization is now in the enthusiastic and seemingly well-intentioned hands of Steve Ballmer.

Despite flaming out in the playoffs this season, the Clippers organization as a whole is clearly in a better place under Ballmer. Ballmer and the powers that be for the Clippers are looking to show the change of direction for the team, starting with a new logo that was unveiled on Conan! Wednesday night:

That’s certainly a drastic change from the old logo, but it’s a nice, clean change. The new logo definitely brings a more modern feel to the Clippers than the old one and gives them something that Sterling’s hands never touched.

Now the Clippers have to prove that they can turn over a new leaf on the court. This team has been the perennial loser in the NBA for quite a bit now, though to varying degrees. If they really want to become an organization in a new place and heading in a new direction, they are going to have to shed that label. That would include not blowing 3-1 leads in playoff series.
