Diddy was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon for swinging at a UCLA coach with a kettlebell.

According to a TMZ report on Monday, rapper and hip hop mogul Diddy was arrested for assaulting a UCLA assistant coach. Diddy allegedly confronted the coach for screaming at his son when things got physical.

That alone seemed rather insane but the whole story has taken a new bizarre twist. According to reports, Diddy was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, and the weapon was a kettlebell.

Per UCLA, via SB Nation:

"Shortly after 12:30 p.m. today, Sean Combs (also known as P. Diddy) was arrested at UCLA’s Acosta Athletic Training Complex on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon, which was a kettlebell [a weighted piece of exercise equipment, similar to a dumbbell]. No one was seriously injured and UCPD is investigating. Combs is expected to be transported to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Inmate Reception Center later this evening."

For those unfamiliar with a kettlebell, it is a heavy metal ball with a handle. A man strong enough and one the right size could really mix to create a lethal combination.

Diddy confronting his son’s coach about yelling at him is one thing, swinging at him with a kettlebell is a whole different level of danger.

Either way, it doesn’t look like Diddy will be posting bail soon and will reportedly be transferred toLos Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Inmate Reception Center.

“I’m thankful that our staff showed the level of professionalism that they did in handling this situation,” UCLA coach Jim Mora said in a statement. “This is an unfortunate incident for all parties involved. While UCPD continues to review this matter, we will let the legal process run its course and refrain from further comment at this time.”

UPDATE: An interesting wrinkle in this story has appeared. The coach in question allegedly is Sal Alosi, a former New York Jets coach who famously tripped a Miami Dolphins player on the sideline.

Diddy’s son is a special teamer. That’s not to say there was a scrimmage and Alosi tried to trip Combs, there is no evidence to suggest that, but it is interesting to think about.
