Kings Should Fire George Karl, Hire Tom Thibodeau

This is probably the best possible solution for the Kings. While trading Cousins seems to be a solution that could net the Kings some profit for the future, it would be a disaster to trade a 24-year old All-Star center to appease a coach you aren’t guaranteed to have under your employment in a few years.

For the best example of this, look no further than Karl’s replacement — Tom Thibodeau. The Bulls fired Thibs after he brought them to the postseason every year he was head coach, made them a defensive juggernaut and turned them into contenders.

Swapping out Karl for a well respected head coach like Thobodeau could mend the fence between Cousins and the front office as well as giving him a head coach who can truly turn his talents out. Cousins improved mightily after being a part of Team USA’s World Cup practices last year and Thibodeau was a big part of that. There’s a connection there, and it’s hard to see swapping Karl out for Thibodeau as bad business when it not only keeps your star player happy and puts him in a position to succeed, but it gives your market instant credibility it didn’t have before.
