LaMarcus Aldridge to the Sacramento Kings

by Kevin Yeung (@KevinHFY)

Do I want this for the Kings? Hell no. Along basketball’s karmic lines, firing a coach that was working and replacing him with a coach that engages in blood feud with your best player should never equal LaMarcus Aldridge. Vivek should not compute to LaMarcus Aldridge.

Do I want this for me? Hell yes! After months of being the NBA’s best clown show, complete with rumored interest in signing Rajon Rondo and Monta Ellis with newfound cap space, the next great comedy they could pull off would be to fall ass-backward into the best player still likely to switch teams by free agency.

The idea of the Kings having to meet with Aldridge and try to convince him to join their team is something of a snag to this fantasy, since that probably involves getting their owner, GM, coach and best player in the same room. Other teams can offer a better chance at winning and leadership that doesn’t want to watch the world burn. But this is my dream free agent signing, and I say it happens. Let’s see what happens when the Kings have to conduct themselves like a win-now team.

{Ed. note: Obviously Aldridge is now a San Antonio Spur, but Kevin’s dream of him playing for the Kings will never die.}
