4. Rookies should be represented

Although it’s not necessarily a rule, it would be nice to see one of baseball’s best young hitters in the game just to give the nation a glimpse at who is going to be a superstar in coming years. Along with having a young player compete, it would be interesting to see if a rookie could take the title and see how often the young guns come in and steal the show.

Bryant is easily the best rookie hitter in baseball right now and his 12 homers and 49 RBI are proof of his tremendous potential at the plate.

The fact that he has made the All-Star Game in his first major league season is a testament to his growing popularity and his talent level. Baseball wants to see more of this kid and the Home Run Derby would be the perfect opportunity for that.

Although he strikes out quite a bit, once every three at-bats, as to be expected from a young player, Bryant can also crush the ball out of the park with regularity.

This could start the tradition of having a rookie star in the Home Run Derby each year and, heck, Bryant could even win the whole thing.
