Oakland Athletics: Sellers

The Athletics looked like clear sellers at the end of May after a miserable start to the season. They are now more on the fence after a strong few weeks and is just 6.5 games out of a playoff spot.

Oakland’s numbers don’t match its 38-47 record, as the rotation has been excellent for the most part and the lineup has put up strong numbers. The bullpen and defense have hurt, and it must be said that the A’s are unfortunate to have a 6-21 mark in one-run game.

This team is better than its record and could be dangerous moving forward, but there are simply too many teams for Oakland to climb over to make the playoffs. It’s not like Billy Beane to buy in the hopes of sneaking into a wild card spot, so expect the A’s to still sell off some parts.

Kazmir and Ben Zobrist would be the most obvious candidates to be shipped out. Beane can be unpredictable, so Oakland will definitely be worth watching at the deadline.
