3. David West, PF

Free Agent Status: Unrestricted
Best Fits: Spurs, Wizards, Clippers, Blazers

One of the hottest free agents on the market is David West. If we’re going off of sheer possibility and best fit, then David West is the best remaining free agent. Stripping away some of the other free agents who are more than likely to re-sign with their current teams, West is the hottest name on the market and is getting attention from some serious contenders.

He said he wants to win, which is why he bypassed a meeting with the Knicks and ended up leaving Indiana in the first place.

The most natural fit for West is in San Antonio, where the biggest perk of joining up is the ability Gregg Popovich has to extend the careers of veterans. It’s not as though West has a lot of years left in his career, but under Pop he could add meaningful years he may not get elsewhere.

Los Angeles has a sudden need for a big man, and while West isn’t a traditional center he is a big body they need and can use as a veteran voice on a team hungry for a title. San Antonio is the best fit, but the chance to play with Paul Pierce, Chris Paul and under the tutelage of Doc Rivers might be too great to pass up.
