Late only Lineup

SP-Matt Cain-San Francisco Giants

SP-Sonny Gray-Oakland Athletics: Gray threw a complete-game, two-hit shutout against the Indians on Sunday and will return tonight against the Twins. Gray is 10-3 this season with a 2.04 ERA and he has held opponents to a .198 average.

C-Stephen Vogt-Oakland Athletics: Vogt has slowed down after a torrid start, but he’s now a nice value as he takes on the Twins tonight. Ervin Santana, the Twins starter, has allowed lefties to hit him much better than righties, so Vogt and the rest of the A’s hitting form that side are worth a look.

1B-Brandon Belt-San Francisco Giants: Belt went 7-14 (.500) in the four games leading up to the break with five runs scored, there doubles, and two walks. He likes hitting at Chase Field where he is 18-71 (.254) over the last three years with six home runs and 15 RBI.

2B-D.J. LeMahieu-Colorado Rockies: LeMahieu returns from his first All Star game and looks to pick up where he left off.  He entered the break with an eight-game hitting streak during which he reached base 18 times in 35 plate appearances. The Rockies should be able to get to James Shields tonight in San Diego, so load up in the late lineup.

3B-Nolan Arenado-Colorado Rockies

SS-Xander Bogaerts-Boston Red Sox

OF-Carlos Gonzalez-Colorardo Rockies

OF-Mike Trout-Los Angeles Angels: All Star game hero Mike Trout will be widely owned, but the way he’s playing right now, he’s a huge risk to leave off your team since he has been absolutely crushing it in July with six homers already this month as part of his 14-37 (.378) start.

OF-Will Venable-San Diego Padres: Venable is surprisingly cheap for a hitter who usually hits near the top of the order. He’s who I have in this spot now, but I’ll make my final call once lineups come out. I’ll definitely use a value play here after beefing up on the bats above.
