Ken Griffey Jr. is another player that Trout brings back memories of with his ability to dominant every aspect of a game.

Through the early stages of their careers, Trout is putting up better numbers in nearly every statistical category. The Angels outfielder is a much more polished power hitter during the early stages, as Griffey did not break the 30-home run barrier until his fifth season in the league.

The pair did produce similar stolen base numbers, though, with the exception of the 49 bases that Trout swiped during his rookie season. Another similarity — Griffey’s first 40-home run season came at age 23, exactly what Trout is on base to do this year.

His rare combination of elite talent, premier athleticism and an exponentially high ceiling is another reason why Trout draws such a strong resemblance to Griffey, who was celebrated for these very same traits throughout his first decade in the majors.

Griffey was widely regarded as one of the best players in baseball from his early 20s until injuries unfortunately started his downfall after age 30. Regardless, he was still able to compile 630 home runs during his career, good for the sixth most of all-time.

On a note unrelated to the baseball diamond, Trout is the first player since Griffey to be honored with his very own signature cleats from NIKE.
