Chicago Bulls. 16. player. 24.

Breaking up the Bench Mob after 2011

Firing Tom Thibodeau

Not drafting Draymond Green

For a team that has won so much, the Bulls are losers. Their front office runs things like they’re the gestapo and ownership might be the thing holding the team back.

In 2011, after an unsuccessful run to the Conference Finals, things were looking up for the Bulls, They had one of the best players in the game and one of the best benches to help keep legs fresh. The solution to making the team better, at least in the eyes of the front office, was to gut the Bench Mob and force Derrick Rose to play more minutes than his body was clearly able to.

The result has been four years of mediocrity and the end of the Tom Thibodeau era in Chicago. Bulls ownership has been known to run off superstar head coaches, and the penny pinching has kept top flight free agents away from the Windy City.

If the Bulls busted out the checkbook and paid the luxury tax the way Dan Gilbert is a few hundred miles away, there’s no way the Bulls don’t have another title. That will never happen though — both the spending from ownership and, by default, a title coming to town.
. Owner. Jerry Reinsdorf
