The world has been patiently waiting for another Space Jam, and Warner Bros might be delivering with LeBron James taking over the lead role.

It has been almost 20 years since we were gifted with one of the finest pieces of 90s cinema in Space Jam, and now we’re getting a sequel. It has taken long enough but Warner Bros has just heavily teased and implied that a sequel to everyone’s favorite awful basketball film.

Warner Bros hasn’t officially announced a sequel to the film, so don’t get too excited, but it doesn’t take a Hollywood insider to read between the lines of todays news. First Warner Bros announced a film deal with LeBron James — which is significant in of itself — but they then revealed trademarks that were submitted for Space Jam.

It was rumored last year that LeBron James would be starring in Space Jam 2, but that report was almost instantly shot down. But that’s how things work in Hollywood, just ask El Mayimbe and Heroic Hollywood. Films get announced and developed behind the scenes only to be denounced and denied in public.

Then, after months or years of waiting, it turns out the initial report was correct and the denials were smoke screens. That seems to be what happened with Space Jam 2, and the world couldn’t be happier that it was all a ruse.

Of course, this opens up the one chance LeBron James has to mic drop his prowess over Michael Jordan’s legacy — win an Oscar for Space Jam 2.
