The Los Angeles Angles are among the teams interested in trading for Yoenis Cespedes before the deadline passes.

When the Detroit Tigers traded David Price to the Toronto Blue Jays, it was clear that they were going into sell mode and the team was going to love Yoenis Cespedes. They didn’t trade him right after moving Price, but there were plenty of rumors swirling as the deadline was about to pass on Friday afternoon.

Cespedes was a hot name on the market, and the New York Mets were a big team to watch in trying to acquire him — but they weren’t the only team interested in him.

According to Jon Heyman and Jon Morosi, the Angles are among the teams interested in Cespedes, along with the New York Mets.

The Angles know that the Astros just got a lot better at the deadline after acquiring Carlos Gomez and Scott Kazmir, while the Angels didn’t make a move before the deadline passed. They popped up in the 11th hour it seemed with interest in Cespedes, and it’s an interesting addition if it should happen.

Mike Trout and Albert Pujols have been fantastic for the Angels and adding Cespedes to the mix and having his bat in that lineup would be a huge upgrade for Los Angeles. It would be the kind of upgrade that counteracts the additions Houston made, as well as the acquisition of Cole Hamels by the Rangers.

It’s all speculation at the moment, but it’s a hot rumor to watch as the deadline arrives.
