The Knicks haven’t always been a dumpster fire franchise — they actually used to be good. That’s why it doesn’t comes as a surprise that their best players are from eras long gone.

But those eras are still important to the history of the franchise and these players are very important to the history of the league. Walt Frazier, Patrick Ewing and Earl “The Pearl” Monroe are all icons of the game. The Knicks may be a dumpster fire inside of a bigger dumpster fire, but they at least have history to take their minds off of it.

<span style=. 1946 - Present. Eastern Conference. People forget that the Knicks were actually good once. Walt Frazier was a huge part of that and he was the first true superstar that the Knicks had in their franchise. He’s still a basketball icon, and he could probably still hack it in his old age a lot better than a lot of the current roster can.. Point Guard. New York Knicks. WALT FRAZIER. PG

New York Knicks. EARL MONROE. SG. Earl ‘The Pearl’ was without a doubt one of the best player the Knicks have ever had in their uniform. He remains a superstar in New York and he’s someone when put in the same backcourt as Walt Frazier, might form the most deadly guard tandem in basketball history. Try stopping those two when they’re firing on all cylinders — you just can’t do it.. Shooting Guard

Another godfather of the Knicks previous era was Bernard King. For all the dead years the Knicks have had, they put together a nice run with some legendary players. Bernard King in a lineup with Walt, Earl “The Pearl”, Oakley and Patrick Ewing is just unfair on so many different levels.. Small Forward. New York Knicks. BERNARD KING. SF

CHARLES OAKLEY. PF. Oakley bounced around to a few teams in his career, but his years with the Knicks are proof that he needs to be on this all-time roster. He was a stud in the frontcourt for the Knicks, and he played with Patrick Ewing in a way that others didn’t. He’s not on the Knicks Mount Rushmore, but he belongs in the all-time lineup.. Power Forward. New York Knicks

PATRICK EWING. C. He was the last great Knick, to many, with Carmelo Anthony being the next big star after Ewing to come to New York. There was a massive dead era between Ewing and Melo, but when Ewing was at his best he was one of the best players the Knicks have ever had come through their franchise.. Center. New York Knicks
