Dallas Cowboys – Darren McFadden

Why is he the pick?

McFadden is constantly hurt. In fact, he is currently on the Physically Unable to Perform list after injuring his hamstring in training camp. However, when healthy, McFadden has shown major ability since being a first-round pick by the Oakland Raiders back in 2008. Last year was the first time in his career that McFadden was able to play in 16 games, although he only rushed for 534 yards on 3.4 yards per carry.

If he can remain on the field, he will finally rush behind one of the best offensive lines in football. With Tyron Smith, Travis Frederick and Zack Martin leading the way, McFadden will have plenty of holes to run through. Unfortunately, the health concerns are always there for a running back who is starting to run out of chances in professional football.

What is at stake?

McFadden’s career. The Raiders held onto McFadden for seven seasons in hopes that he could finally stay healthy and cash in on his enormous potential. This time around it is the Cowboys wishing for the same thing. If McFadden can’t get the job done, he will be nailed to the bench in favor of Joseph Randle and Lance Dunbar. After that, it would probably be retirement.
