Philadelphia Eagles – Sam Bradford

Why is he the pick?

Bradford is the obvious choice. After head coach and quasi general manager Chip Kelly dealt away Nick Foles and a 2016 second-round pick to acquire Bradford, it was obvious that Kelly sees vast potential in Bradford. To this point, Bradford has not displayed much to be excited about since being drafted as the top-overall pick in 2010 by the St. Louis Rams.

Bradford has been a walking injury the past two seasons, tearing his ACL each campaign. Last year, Bradford did not make it out of the preseason before blowing his knee out in a game against the Cleveland Browns. With Mark Sanchez, Matt Barkley and Tim Tebow backing him up, Bradford is the only hope to get Philadelphia into the playoffs.

What is at stake?

The Eagles’ playoff hopes and Bradford’s next contract. Bradford is a free agent after this season and will certainly cash in if he can stay on the field and put up prolific numbers. On the flip side, he probably becomes nothing more than a journeyman backup if he either gets hurt or plays poorly. Additionally, Bradford must play well for the Eagles to get back into the playoffs.
